ACE MENTOR PROGRAM
PROJECT SUMMARY
Typology: Research
Location: Inglewood, CA
Getting involved in your community can take many forms, and educational mentorship for young people is among the most important. AERO Principal Brion and colleagues from AECOM and WEBCOR volunteered to mentor students during the 2022/2023 school year as part of the ACE Mentor Program. The program culminated in a year-end presentation and awards ceremony where students presented their final project using the knowledge they gained in architecture, construction, and engineering.
For high school students interested in architecture and engineering, AERO Principal Andrew laid out what it’s like to work in these fields by highlighting some of the projects that AERO has done over the years. He also prepared a fun learning activity during this session. Students were given 10 pieces of construction paper and a box of paperclips. They were instructed to create a tower, and the results were amazing!
ACE is a national mentoring program that teaches high school students about careers in architecture, construction, and engineering. Check out the ACE Mentor Program through the link below. https://www.acementor.org/
